A modern-day tale of the pursuit of fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, acts as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners.
Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for workers (man camps), oversee the assembly of mining equipment, and drilling of the well site, especially in remote locations.
They are also part of the repair team, problem solvers, and facilitators. So far the show is good very good, one feeling I can’t shake is the daughter.
In the show they tell the daughter is 17 and then they sexualize her in an extreme way! All of these scenes have 0 to do with the story and make it uncomfortable to watch.
I understand what they are doing to the character, the daughter is going down the wrong path and her dad is going to get her on the right path. It could have easily been avoided by telling her she was 18, you can be 18 and still in high school!

These actors only get better with age and they do a wonderful job in this sweet comedy series! The script gets a little lost in trying to solve the mystery and goes deeper with the character’s backstory.
You don’t really mind that it’s not a mystery because you have a good time watching these golden old people work and show off their stuff. It’s a tribute to how brave you have to be to be a senior citizen and still be active in our youth-oriented society.
What a sweet tribute this series is to those who support and help us navigate the minefields of aging.

I watched the original Dexter series, all the seasons, I hate it I admit, more than once. I watched New Blood, I thought it was okay. Like many other fans I thought the Freudian ending was, well, boring.
Maybe it’s the familiar characters, I love that they’re all back and that the series doesn’t stray too far from what we’d expect in that regard. Right down to Deb’s dirty mouth and Masuka’s trademark laugh. No, I’m not giving away any spoilers for saying that.
